Yoni Steaming supports healing in the postpartum
Yoni steaming has become very popular in the media and amongst women in the United States in the past few years. There are good reasons for that too! Steaming can be incredibly emotionally, mentally, physically and spiritually healing. In this modern world, a reported 1 in 3 women currently have or will end up having pelvic health problems by the age of 60. On top of that, women are stressed, burned out and living on autopilot more than they would like to admit. It’s no wonder why Yoni Steaming is making a comeback at this time. This seemingly new and trendy practice is actually an ancient and Universal way of women. It has been around since the beginning of time. (There are actually cave drawings of it!)
Traditionally, steaming was prescribed to women in the postpartum by midwives to aid in the healing process after birth. Steaming brings warmth, circulation and acknowledgment to the sacred part of our body that has just brought life into this world. This ancient and innate practice allows women to slow down and breathe so they can recognize and honor this rite of passage into motherhood and reflect on their life and how incredible they are.
Postpartum Yoni steam protocol
It’s safe to start Yoni steaming about four days after your baby is born, as long as you are NOT bleeding fresh red blood and it is just the lochia. The arteries must be closed for steaming to be safe in the postpartum. Feel free to contact Becky if you are unsure.
Steam as much as you would like with the Sacred Steam Cleanse Blend for the first 30 days postpartum. After that you will want to switch to the Sacred Steam Gentle Blend, so you don’t bring on your period before 11 months. It has herbs in it (like astragalus) that strengthen the uterus while still helping the womb to get back to its original size and placement.
It is best if you can steam at least once a week for about 15 to 25 minutes. Twice a week can be even more beneficial but the postpartum time is busy and we need ample rest so please don’t let this practice be “one more thing” you feel like you HAVE to do. It should be nourishing and helpful, not stressful
